Grrr,

Oh well... life goes on.

Does anyone know if you get an email acknowledgement with Durham or one in a letter? just curious.
No email acknowledgement direct from Durham as far as I am aware (there might be a course that does it), though if your UCAS is set up right, you should get an email from them.

I specifically asked and apparently, Durham doesn't send out emails. Ever. I actually got my offer before I received an acknowledgment letter so you can imagine the mail service they use (my letter came from France for some reason!).
I got my offer in a letter today. Not yet on Track though!

what about Durham track? www.durham.ac.uk/aes ?

Mmmm track. Do you know why Durham track is better than UCAS track? It remembers your UCAS number so you don't have type the damned thing in over and over again. You do have remember your pin... but mine's brilliantly memorable. I thought I should spread some Durham Track love as most people aren't so positive about it. haha.

Grr not me...I would feel far more comfortable going up to Cambridge with an offer from Durham, it is starting to feel more and more like an all or nothing situation lol!! I know they take a long time though, a friend got his offer for Chemistry after he was made an offer by Oxford lol.

since u have applied to SPS at cambridge im assuming that you also applied to combined social sciences at durham?? i got my offer about 2 weeks ago, 3 days after receiving an acknowledgement telling me that i probably wont be hearing from them until next year lol.

but yea, i totally agree with what you said, having an offer from durham makes me feel much more relaxed about cambridge interview, but i doubt if it's a good thing...since now i'm having this 'just go and have fun' attitude and its stopping me from doing any preparation:s-smilie:

no, unfortunately, its not on there.....
Course: Music
College: St John's

Acknowledged- they seem to be taking their time and acting funny though... One of my friends has an unrealistically high offer and another friend (Oxbridge applicant) got an outright rejection. The rest of my friends haven't heard...
Got an offer of ABB for Anthropology at Van Mildert

Was sent off on November 6th, so not too long  Good luck!
Nice one! Yeah it is getting annoying but it is making me focus even harder on the Cambridge interview (SPS). It would be worth getting a Cambridge offer just to stop this mindless UCAS track/ Durham AES addiction! And yes I have applied for combined hon. in social sciences!

Being an Oxbridge applicant isn't a ticket into Durham or any competitive Uni for that matter as a lot of their courses are statistically harder to get a place on. Plenty of people I know have been offered places at Oxbridge but were rejected from Durham...:s-smilie:
Yeh if anything, the rumour that Durham reject oxbridge candidates seems to be coming quite true for some of my friends

My friend got full marks in his AS history which he is applying for at uni, the rest of AS As, and he got 6 or 7 a* at gcse and rest As and he applied to cambridge and still got rejected.

Defo something fishy there.....

Ive applied to do English, applied Oct 2nd and still department has mine...taking forever i see!!! :frown:

*has a desperation to quell Oxbridge myth*

They do NOT know you have applied to Oxbridge. I know lots of folk who got offers from both, rejections from both and offers from one or the other. If the myth was true wouldn't all of them have been rejected from Durham because they applied to Oxbridge?
Personally last year I got an offer from Durham after I had an interview at Oxford. But I got rejected from York. Maybe York discriminates against Durham applicants!!! <--- nobody ever thinks this, so why should people assume Durham does the same to Oxbridge applicants?
Hundreds of Oxbridge rejects go to Durham every year. If the myth had any validity then there would be substantially less.
Face it: They are looking for different things. Oxbridge has separate tests, essays submitted and does not look at extra curriculars. Durham hasn't got the tests or essays and does have a look at what you get involved in as it has very high student involvement in extra curriculars.
Don't assume Durham rejected you because you're an "Oxbridge" person. I'm afraid it just sounds like and excuse.
Sorry, rant over. I just think it's rather ridiculous for such a foolish myth to be perpetuated. Don't get me started on the A* myth.... haha. Mince pie anyone? xxx

OH FFS!!

We have had a bad enough time trying to quash the 6A* policy rumour, and now this one rears its ugly head again.

I really want to know why it is that some applicants will believe any stupid rumour they are told without thinking it through themselves first.
