Durham Applicants 2008 Thread

Scroll to see replies

And there is so little space to go around, it's not like this thread is for 2008 applicants to talk about the application process...
Considering most of us are going through a similar experience - still waiting - it's nice to share that and know others are in the same boat as you.

There is the occasional post in here that actually has something that is helpful to know. Its a pain to skim through all the spam. If you want to spam, use the chat forum.

There's nothing 'spamming' about talking about your application to durham in a thread called 'Durham Applications 2008 Thread'. we talk about durham, we talk about our applications......if we were in the Durahm 2008/09 Offers/Rejections thread then yeah.

If it bores you dont come on here. simple as that

Nah, its the way that some people keep making lots of posts to announce they dont have an offer yet. Seriously, do you think anyone here gives a damn how long you are waiting? Please all of you waiting, go to the bar or whatever and have a splendid time. As opposed to obsessively counting down on here on a day by day basis. It is sad and really really boring to read....

Tell us when you actually have a decision, thats actually useful to know. Telling us that they haven't decided yet, is just irritating at best.

I give a damn.

Thanks Reblet!!! I'm sooo excited.
And to Hopping Mad Kangaroo, I think that you should just chill out. After all, it's the application thread, and what's wrong with people whinging? They need an outlet, and that's what this is for. It's a forum...
Forum [n] an assembly, meeting place, television program, etc., for the discussion of questions of public interest.
And it seems, that the general concensus here is that peoples' situations are of interest. Soz pal...

Wow... Next years freshers in a university of how many people? You really are making the effort...

Just the ones in my college mainly. Chances are I will get to know quite a fair few...

Lol. This quote about the applicants on here is brilliant, because its exactly what i want to tell Durham. They've managed to send me two letters so far simply telling me that they still havn't made a decision.

The administration of the uni is very sloppy in lots of places, I would agree with you there. This week they managed to leak a list of every student in the university registered with the disability service via email.

hear, hear!

HMK, surely due to the fact that Durham is a collegiate university, it's good to find out what next - THIS - year's crop of freshers will be like? I mean, the coleges aren't that big, so the chances are, upper years going to rub shoulders with some of these people...?

I dunno, that's just how I'd feel if I were in their position

And buckets of posts saying they still dont have an offer helps me get to know them how exactly?

And bucket loads of posts saying "I have an offer" would help you to get to know them how exactly?

It would let me know who hasnt got an offer  Which in itself is useful....

Oh sorry, I didn't realise we were on here so you could get to know us. Obviously a misunderstood thread title! *rolls eyes*

Oh beleive me, valium doesnt work when you feel the UCAS stress creeping in at you from the corners. Ignoring it works, kinda, until somebody you know suddenly starts squealing that theyve got an offer and you once again want to bash your head against a wall.

You should only be stressed if you havent gotten the grades and written a good PS. In other words its your own fault in most cases. Stop stressing and go and do something productive, or fun.

You're so supportive it boggles the mind!! :-)

Currenly I'm not stressing, as I mentioned previously it usually attacks when someone else has an offer and you're staring at a blank screen.

But let me stress about what I want.

Currently I'm in the middle of a dilemna involving 25 chickens, cat, and a big orange light bulb, so TSR is my only distraction. I don't need to be told when and when not to stress about something so annoyingly out of my control.

Ah, of course. I forgot you were the overlord of St Aidens, and gaining knowledge of the decisions made by the departments and your college is imperative to your existence. How foolish of me...

Gaining knowledge of who is coming to Aidans (note how it is spelt  ) is useful, given I am probably going to meet a lot of them. It does concern me what next years intake is like.

Well he'd know who he could potentially be going to uni with for one.

Oh shut up HMK, I don't see much point in you posting in this thread if you're just going to complain about people posting in it.

I am not complaining about people posting in it at all. Just people filling it up with nonsense and whining.
I have never really understood the whole stressing about uni applications thing really, it never bothered me. I mean its not like you can do anything about it now is it. Its far more productive just spending your time trying to get the necessary A-levels.

Indeed it may concern you, and it is admirable that as a university student you find the time to spen on here "helpfully" badgering those of us going through the UCAS system at the moment, but I am confused by your logic...
You say that you don't want a forum full of people complaining that they haven't heard anything yet, though you're happy to hear from those with offers if only to ascertain which applicants have not yet had offers. Twisted? I think so...
If you were so very concerned about prospective St AidAns students, and worried that you were waisting precious "getting-to-know-you" time by searching through the waffle of this thread, then perhaps you should create yourself a little "Those who already have offers for St Aidans" thread, and that way you could sleep soundly at night. How about that? Then at least the rest of us could whinge and moan in peace.
HMK, you may be overreacting a little. Sure its tiresome to read buy hey, so long as they all keep it in one thread and don't spam the whole forum with incessant threads entitled ''Why haven't Durham got back to me yet!!!Wah!!!!111'' then I have no problem with it.

If they spam up the board with that, then I just hit the report button and neg them. Nice and easy

Asides, its nice to have an argument :p:

If I told you that your admissions tutors may possibly be reading this board, i suspect you would be more sensible with what you write...

Im not being critical of Durham, st aidans, or anything, Im just pointing out that you seem singularly determined to know only the st aidans applicants with offers, and nothing else. Its just that this isnt that kind of bored, its where we talk about our various applications to Durham.
