Im not being critical of Durham, st aidans, or anything, Im just pointing out that you seem singularly determined to know only the st aidans applicants with offers, and nothing else. Its just that this isnt that kind of bored, its where we talk about our various applications to Durham.

Feel free to talk about them. But tell us when your status has changed, not when it is staying the same. Spamming is against TSR rules.

Firstly: Thank you Dani-lou.

Secondly: as I have previously mentioned, the title of this thread is 'durham applications 2008 thread'...we are durham 2008/9 applicants. this is what we talk about.

Why do you think we're worried about getting in if we're not enthusiastic about getting there and starting our degree? Thats what we want to do, thats why we applied, thats why we're anxious, thats why we talk about these things.

No, they would knock you down for being insecure and being a whiner. Do you think they want to take people on their course who are probably going to complain about it, or someone who is actually enthusiastic about it?

I'd like to suggest now that the people on here who are "whining" are perhaps those most passionate about their course. If they didn't care, they wouldn't whine now, would they?

And I love how you presume to know what the Durham applications tutors would/would not "knock you down" for. I'm pretty certain that they're not allowed to use information outside of that officially submitted with your application, so I think you're now pretty much talking faeces! (Note the refined manner of swearing! haha!)

Did you not hear about the Cambridge College that was looking at the applicants Facebook profiles...

/\/\/\this is not a facebook page, we are not applying to Cambridge, and I doubt any of us have anything to fear EVEN IF because we have not been in any way criticising the way the university of any of its colleges work.

Only your insistance on repeatedly posting on a thread how whiney we all are when you could simply just not read this particular thread.

Let's just be honest here:

We all think Durham is sexy. Some of us are there or have offers so want to chat happily about that. Some of us are still waiting anxiously and want to release that via moaning. It really doesn't matter that much. Seeing as Durham is a top uni, I'd expect the applicants and students to have more sense and intelligence than to argue at length over what constitutes spamming and whether we care what each other post.

Peace out and happy Burn's night (ish... belatedly...)

I thought everyone here was. Just seeing it from very different perspectives...

And are more than welcome to. Though I would like to point out to the extremely excited of you that there is a chance that you will be at least in part disappointed, once the reality of the place sinks in.

They are welcome to. At the nearest sympathetic brick wall.

I assumed we were debating. Most debates are about finer detail. Sweeping motions always find lots of support until they are properly examined.

Peace out and happy Burn's night (ish... belatedly...)

Our dance was cancelled, the band pulled out (Grrr...)

Chances of me being any more disappointed than I was last year when I missed my grades are very low. Especially as my best friends are at Durham and love it. And there's a castle and a cathedral! haha.
The only small issue I have with the "debating" is the irony of complaining about people spamming up the forum with posts bemoaning having no replies, and then having pages of bickering over spelling etc. But it does seem to have stopped now. So this thread can go back to normal.
Ack gutted for yea about the band. Why did they pull out? My friend is St. Andrew's is plastered right now... Very jealous. You should have gone up to Edinburgh!

Durham has its downsides. Especially if you build it up too much. Dont get me wrong its a wonderful place. But everything has its drawbacks.

Its stopped because the otherside need their beauty sleep. Asides, I like ironic. Irony breeds lots of humor.

No idea. If I had known I would have done the other social. Or made more of an effort to drag people down the union for Planet of Sound. Oh well...

Trust me when I say: anything is better than nineteen years in Coventry. haha.
Cuh beauty sleep. Going to bed before 2 a.m. is poor show.
Ahh well I suppose Burn's night isn't *that* important. I'm liking that Open day falls on St. Patrick's day. A great excuse to go out a get drunk. And they can't do anything to reverse the fact they've offered me a place, it isn't like an interview... mwahaha!

 haha.

I have spent 18 years in Shottingham. I must trump you :p:

I might be a rep for it if I behave myself... (at Aidans)

They could bribe the exam board so you fail...

Coventry is the arse of Britain. And I have an extra year stuck here. So I maintain my lead. I have a penchant for old, quiet, pretty places so Durham for me'll be perfect.
Haha if you're a rep you *have* to take everyone out on the lash then.
And the exam board don't need to be bribed, I'll get that fail on my own. haha.

And Shottingham is the rectum. Although its nice and quiet when you are hiding from the gunfire. We all have bunkers in our gardens...

There are under 18s that need looking after, someone will stay behind...

 Relax, I am sure you will be fine...
Reply 1254
Coventry doesn't even have bunkers... they got bombed to buggery.
Not all of them will be under 18s. I wasn't last year. And I'm defoes not this year. So all the older lot can go out and get smashed then. Whilst you play Irish-themed games with your 17 year olds.
Haha sure I'll be fine. That's why I'm on here at 2 in the morning having only woken up at four in the afternoon and having done no revision whatsoever for the last few days. My brain is saturated.

Cuh well done you on the firsts. I'd be confident if it was English/ a subject I was good at or liked. Unfortunately every words I write in History exams nauseates me and I literally have a mental battle to stop me running out the exam room. It's amazing I came anywhere close to getting an A really... But hey ho, I may fluke my way through this exam. Or have an examiner who fancies my name. haha. I'll keep my fingers crossed on that one.

I ended up doing better on subjects I disliked, I suppose I paid them way more attention in my exam panic.

Lol, are you going to sign your name as Reblet? Or do you have a real name you use for exams?
Reblet
Ahh you see I pay more attention to the subjects I hate but I still cock up in the exams.

I spent hours learning the examiners reports. They provide nice hints as to what the next exam marks scheme is going to look like.

No of course I don't sign my name Reblet, I sign it Busty McFiddleforanA. haha.

Bucky Ball would be better :p:

Although only your real name is going to get you the marks...
Reply 1258
Yeah I love the reports and mark schemes. But wish OCR were as useful as Edexcel and AQA are, or as open. Just hope I get my fave questions.

Ahh yes, imagine my pseudonym getting me the A, and then it being taken away because it wasn't my real signature. That would be gutting.

OCR make some very useful reports for ICT, they got me my A comfortably.

Although I am curious as to what your real name might be, if not Bucky Ball...
