It's only February! Why are people getting so angry at Durham?! At least they're still considering your application. I understand it's frustrating for those who have no offers they like or no offers at all. But seriously people who already have their firm choices offer, is it really that important to get your offer now?! It isn't a race. Just sit back and wait. My friends and I last year were waiting until March and one until April. Soooo SMILE

It's easy for you to say, you have your offer!
We're angry because we sent off our forms over a quarter of a year ago, yet all we've had is a stream of 'we take ages to decide' taunting letters.
I want to hear from Durham because 1. It means I can firm/insurance/reject and 2. Because considering I don't want to go to Warwick, and it would be silly to have another AAA offer as insurance, an AAB offer from Castle would make a fantastic insurance
Easy for you to say, Miss Ialreadyhaveanoffer. I'm going totally mad, every morning whenever I see a brown letter at my door I'm convinced Durham have given me an offer, only to be bitterly disappointed.
Edit: Dammit Greatleysteg, anyway you can't complain either you've got an Oxford offer for Pete's sake.

Well aren't you the epitome of all that is positive and cheery.
And now, now people, Reblet's just trying to be helpful and attempting to alleviate all that stress you all have, so don't rush to criticize her.
I'm only trying to help. I was in your shoes last year but with NO offers and four rejections up until early Feb as I remember rightly. My friend waited until past the Durham Open Day before she found she had an offer and she didn't have a nice shiny Oxbridge offer like some people. Seriously those who want to use Durham as an insurance - don't stress and set off people who want Durham as their firm. There are lots of unis who take a long time to reply, just think "At least they're taking their time deciding and not just picking at random!".
hmm... i cant help thinking bad news is on its way as my offer hasnt even been sent to a college yet ... I just dont like the fact that people wait this long with no contact just to get a rejection. I waited until late march last year and then got rejected...

I wouldn't worry too much; I don't know anyone who has heard back for combined arts yet. They can't just be rejecting everyone.
You say not even sent to college but when it is sent to college that means the department has accepted you (notionally - without technical glitches!) and thus this IS an offer. It's not as though it's stuck at the first stage - a decision will be being made! Sorry to hear about last year, that's horrible, I will keep my fingers crossed for you this year. And can I point out from your sig that Mr. Edbinburgh and Mr. St. Andrews are being equally slow? I say it's the northerness - the news has a long way to travel to UCAS! Good unis choices by the way, I applied to four of them last year
Thanks reblet! I know, my top three are taking ages and its just annoying me as its this is the second time applying. My friend in durham keep texting me asking whether i have heard anything , which isnt exactly helping lol.
Aww it's concern! But I can see why that would rather rub it in! Don't worry, now you've got your grades your should be more lucky with your top three! I think combined arts is slow anyway - I can't recall many folk having an offer yet. Leeds and York are both amazing places for English so well done on those.
When did your durham aes say it went to college? because mine went on the 3rd feb and I havent had my letter yet and I think I remember yours doing the same round about the time mine did....
Hi, this question has probably been asked loads of times but....
Does the competitiveness of the college affect your chances of getting into Durham itself? Or does the department just decide whether or not you get an offer regardless of your preferred college? ie. if you applied to castle have you less chance of getting in than if you applied to a less popular college such as Mary's?
Just i was under the impression that it was similar to the oxbridge system when i first applied (yes i know ox/cam have pooling systems etc but generally if you apply to a less-competitive college you have a greater chance of getting in) but now i'm under the impression that college choice isn't as important with Durham.
