Exactly, Durham is the best in the country for English. Plus its a nicer uni, and isnt having serious financial problems.

Agreed and agreed. York is having financial problems? Well I didn't know about that but then again I don't really bother to educate myself about the ongoings in York.

Sorry to butt into the conversation Laus but why would you be torn between Durham and York? Its seems to me that Durham is a far better university...

If I do get an offer from Durham (which is doubtful), then I will visit both universities before making my decision. York is a beautiful city and they do have an excellent reputation. I guess I'm biased because York has given me such a lovely offer!

Its rumored to be having difficulties, although I doubt its on the scale of Manchester. Durham on the other hand is planning massive building projects.

The city of York IS really beautiful but it just depends what you're looking for. The campus is full of 1960s buildings with great huge pond in the middle. Although if I don't get an offer from Durham, York is probably where i'm going to go...

I got an offer from Yorky-Pork and was very chuffed. But Durham FOREVER. Especially as it's a castle... I'm in love! haha.

To be honest, I won't be basing my decision on the ugliness of it's exterior.

I'm an agnostic (Because the only thing worse than a dogmatic theist is a dogmatic anti-theist.)

Maybe I would have felt inclined towards Durham if I had heard from them first.

York uni is ugly...trust me...i live in york and have spent a few days at the uni..the 'pond' slash duck poo collector is horrendous! A student was telling me...the uni once drained the p[ond to clean it and the shear amount of faeces across the whole bottom of the drained pond was up to the thighs of the cleaners. Bear in mind this pond is like the largest man made one at a uni (or summat like that) ...that gross imho!

Btw i'm still waiting for a decision on my Law application at Durham..anyone got any offeres/rejections?

Such a vivid description of the pond. I can just see the cleaners trudging through tons of poo. And yes I have a offer for law.
