Well...that's what I got, so I'm hoping that'll be enough to convince them. Obviously not. That's truly shocking, your friend seems like such a perfect applicant!

He probably had an awful personal statement relative to every other applicant..

well em, im sure he wont mind me listing his achievments.
he won a national political journalism competeition and met the PM because of it.
His team got to the UK finals of EYP in Durham itself this year.their school was selected as the team to represent N.I.
And he participated in numerous mock bar trials, twice in which he got to the N.I finals in Belfast.

HMK your just jealous that
A) he blows you out of the water
B) so does his CV

Its a clear case of bias towards Englsih students. what ever happened to meritocracy?
this is a sad day for durham university.

Ha, he blows me out of the water does he. My personal statement got me here, his did not. In fact Durham favor international students for law, for example their foundation centre program only allows foriegn students to take law (source: http://www.dur.ac.uk/foundation.centre/socialscience/law/, first paragraph).

By the way, my CV owns his, but dont tell him that. Would not want him to cry...
yea but I'll reiterate P.S can only take you so far.
C's at GCSE?
natural science degree?
your cracking me up.
I had lost all faith in durhams application process when I realised you got in. Exactly why I didnt apply

Bear in mind the C grade I slept through 2 years of lessons. Was quite an achievement. Also bear in mind I have 5 and a half A's at A-level. One C means absolutely nothing. Plus, I did go to state school, always helps...
ICT and General Studies? pretty soft dont ya tink?
Maths and Further Maths? regarded as one A-level
Don't flatter yourself einstein

Says the person who was so proud of his university application he removed it from his profile. The word rejection is not very nice now, is it?

But why dont you tell us all about your splendid set of A-level grades and GCSE's. It would be nice to see you share

Just for the record, Further Maths is only discounted when you are applying to medical school. Not when you are doing a science degree. Again, you are merely, yet again, demonstrating to us how much of a moron you are...

He got 3 As in Maths, F.Maths, Physics and ultimately got into Durham for Natural Sciences.

No matter how smart you think you may be kevster, you do not know as well as the experienced admissions officers at Durham who decided to accept him onto a tough course.

The fact he got an extra 2 somewhat "soft" A levels just shows he is capable of taking on a lot of work at once and still succeeding at a high level.

And HMK and your friend are ultimately incomparable anyway because they applied for different subjects, so stop being such a n00b
I didn't necessarily specify when Further maths is and isnt regarded as one subject, in my eyes it will always be one. Your only kidding yourself. Nice the way you dodged the ICT and General Studies bit, good goin.

I removed my details for my own personal reasons which never in a lifetime would I tell to an imbecile like you. Unlike you, I can accept rejection, I simply didn't feel the urge to plaster my offers all over the internet unlike someone:

NATURAL SCIENCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ST AIDANS COLLEGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF?
i'm above that moronic behaviour.
now shew little boy.
firstly mhsc (good username by the way, what is it morse?)
I didnt ask you to voice your opinions so fly away.
if your going to slag me at least have the balls to do it right you pussycat.
general studs? are you seriously trying to tell me its a tough Alevel?

Well we all know that your eyes are looking through a crack pipe...

Still, not going to tell us what A-levels you took and failed so far to get straight A's in...

Personal reasons as in not being able to accept rejection. Yes, I understand...

SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF?

Very much so, but I dont feel compelled to wear in on my sleeve...

Why don't we just try to calm it down here.

Stop digging at HMK for no reason. Your mate didn't get in, as has been said, it's because an admissions tutor (who btw is a damn good guy) didn't think he was good enough. He could have A*s flying out his backside all day, but something told the tutor that he didn't cut the mustard. It's a simple as.

I'm eternally sorry that you've lost faith in Durham, but I'm sure it'll get over it. Just don't tell the Times, that'll bol**cks our rankings!

BTW make your argument consistent!

Who said general studies was a tough A level?

And my username is my initials. This is a public forum, so you don't really get much say over who voices opinions. If you want to bicker with HMK in private there is a nice service known as private messaging common to most bulletin boards I've ever used.
Stop these arguments now.

Stop these arguments now.

Cal, could you give him just another two points
Oh he'll probably manage to earn them himself somehow.
aw hold on a second here. who are you to say he didnt cut the mustard. look at the durham law page and you will see countless number of people who have inferior cv's to my friend. The fact of the matter is there is an unbelievable bias towards english students. id love to know the exact reasons why he wasnt suppossedly good enough.
