Do we get any reading weeks?

Yep, we get one in autum and spring terms. This term it will be the 7th week (one week of freshers, and then 5 weeks of term before reading week) and in the spring term it's the 6th week
what exactly is reading week? is it just like a half term or is there something more to it than that? do we still have lectures?

You have no lectures, so it's like a half term really only they say it's to catch up on reading and essays  Some people go home for the week, but some departments schedule meetings with your tutors and things (or at least say they might do!) so you might not necessarily be able to go home!

Please note it depends on what you study. If you study Management (and I think a few more subjects), you don't get a reading week.
thanks sorry for the double post. i wasnt planning to go home-too expensive, but may visit a mate in cambridge for a day or 2 and was wondering if reading week may be a good time (apart from i dont think cambridge get a reading week)

History students don't get a reading week at all in the first year, and just one in the second year in the second term, supposedly to research our independent essays.
Is there one for music? Thanks

Yes
I hope there's one for Psychology without meetings cause I've already booked a tattoo for then.

Skiving off week (as it's usually referred to) isn't for real degrees - just B(ugger)A(lls)s
Ooh I don't know what I will do with my reading week. I can't go home, not for that amount of time because it would cost about £150 to go the plane. If it's at a different time to my friend studying at ULIP in Paris (if she even gets such a thing) I think I'll hop on the Eurostar and "read" while sitting in pavement cafés and "shopping for study materials"...
