When applying for the maximum maintenance loan as an independent student, the form asks if employed during study (but to exclude part time work). So I tick 'no'.
If only working part time, will it still award the maximum maintenance loan?
Am worried as worked more hours in the previous 3 years, when applying for first year but obviously hours are reduced to part-time currently while on full time uni course.
Do they just carry on awarding the maximum maintenance loan as an independent student (no changes other than hours of work reduced)?

Thank you.
Your income from part time or holiday jobs doesn't count. They're asking for students who are in full time employment and getting day release from their employer to study.

Thanks for the reply.
Apologies if I am not being clear enough.
For Year 1 at Uni - applied as an independent student (had 3 years' employment prior) and assessed and given the additional maintenance loan.
Now applying for year 2 finance - will additional maintenance loan be automatically given if requested? No longer working full time just working weekends while studying on full-time course.
I am sure I read somewhere that if you were assessed as an independent student to start with i year 1, this will continue throughout the years,

You should be classed as independent for the duration of your course
Hi, Sorry to be late to the party. I am in the exact same boat. Contacted SFE and they said that you are entitled to what you are in 1st year. I.e. I am entitled to maximum loan in year 1, so the same will apply for years 2 and 3.

Hi mummalove,
Just to confirm - if you were given independent status (due to having 3 years self support prior to the start of the course) it would last for the duration of the course.
