If you had a lump in your breasts/testicles, would you be asking this question?

Do go to your doctor, and discuss it with them. It might not be serious, but it's better to be sure

it's called adam's apple.

if you're a girl then it's called eve's apple.

As nursing_sue has said, just pop along to your GP to get it checked out

vivit the docs, better safe than sorry!

It is their job after all

It's quiet possibly a reaction to an infection, resulting in your glands swelling. However if it has been there for that long it's quiet possibly an "Infected Cyst". Cysts are there from the moment you're born, however are not prominent until they become infected.

Then again I'm no doctor! So like everyone has said, go visit your GP!

Ive had a lump in my neck for years, at first they thought it was a swollen lymph node but its actually just a ball that moves around :/

Lumps in you neck are usually one of those things you want to have checked out. Could be nothing, but then again it could be the first sign of something sinister (not that I want to scare you). Given you have no other symptoms, it sounds benign, but I'd say you should pay your GP a visit

Iv had a lump in my neck for ages-left side. I went to the doctor and she said it was fine and only if it increased in size 2 go back. Is it mobile or very fixed. If it is fixed I would definatly go and see your doctor, but anyway there is no harm in going-its what GPs are there for!!!

Usually when we have a health question like this there are too many possibilities of what it could be. Many of the possibilities are not serious, but a few are and will need immediate treatment, and that's why it's so important to get an expert (i.e. a doctor) to diagnose the problem and not try to guess what it is or ask a bunch of Yahoos (in other words - us!)

someone told me it could be hodgkin's disease, a form a cancer, if there are no other obvious symptoms.

You have a very pessimistic friend.

It's probably just glands in your neck. I know that most people get freaked out when they find a lump and think of the worse. If the lump or area around the lump is sore, you develop other symptoms or you are just worried, go see your GP

Even more reason to just go and see your GP no?

Could be anything from a cyst or clot to, well anything really. If you find yourself asking 'what is it' its usually a good indication to get it checked out.

If you had Hodgkin's disease wouldn't you know by now? You might have some other symptoms or something

I've had a lump in my neck for about two years now. About four doctors have poked it and said it's nothing to worry about. *shrug* I was really worried when I found it though as, unlikely though a tumour would have been at age 19, you never know. I'd say odds are well in your favour that it's nothing, but that for your own peace of mind you should get it looked at. Hope that was helpful.

(Almost forgot - my lump's a lymph node and one of the GPs who prodded it said that poking at it can make it more prominent - hence you feel something, think "oh God what's that?", keep poking at it, it gets worse, you panic more...basic advice, leave it be and see a doctor.)
