Greasy hair after washing! what

The last few days my hair has been really greasy at the top on one side after i wash it. I wash my hair every evening as my daily routine and never have any problems until now, its been getting greasy as soon as i wash it. The first time i noticed this i thought i didnt wash the conditioner out fully, but then it happend again so i didnt use conditioner at all, just my regular shampoo and tonight i washed my hair about 10:00 and its fully dry now but really greasy and sticky!! I just have no idea why this is happening. Do you think its cause i wash it too often maybe? What can i do? plz help

I'm not sure why, to be honest. Make sure you're definitely washing out allll of the shampoo/conditioner when you wash it. Maybe try a different shampoo for a while?
It sounds as though you might not be washing the shampoo out fully. If you have layers, try lifting up the different layers and wash each side of the layer (I know this sounds strange, but I find that shampoo can cling to the underneath of my layers). Is your water warm enough? If the water is cool, try using warmer water to shift the shampoo... Are you also using enough shampoo? It could be that you might not be using enough or you've missed some places...

If not, you could try switching your shampoo...

Apparently that can happen if you wash it too often. Maybe try and start washing it every other day? I know it'll be greasy at first, but try and keep at it and hopefully it'll improve!

Try washing it less... shampoo/condition once every other day and just wash with clean water the rest of the time - sometimes it can be cause your washing it too much, you lose a lot of moisture from your hair so it becomes greasier to prevent it drying out.

Also switching shampoo/conditioner might help?
Try switching shampoo/conditioner for a start.

I has your problem and its still took a few applications of the new shampoo before it stopped becoming greasy really easily.

Also, if you use body lotion/moisturiser etc after a shower be careful not to touch your hair while the residue is on your hands.

Failing that, do as the others have said and start washing it every other day.
For a temporary solution between washes get some dry shampoo and spray your hair before going out.

I read somewhere that warm water opens your pores, which trap shampoo. When your skin begins to return to normal temp, the shampoo is 'pushed' out of the closing pores, causing greasy hair. So rinse your hair with cold water after washing with warm, this will close your pores, and wash away all the shampoo which was hiding in your pores

i used to get this after i had been using the same shampoo for ages, change brand and hopefully that'll solve the problem

i'd change shampoos and not use conditioner or hair products for a while. conditioner and hair products tend to make hair a lot greasier than they should be. another thing to do is leave longer gaps between washing. at first, it'll be disgusting but your hair will end up getting used to it and you'll not need to wash it a lot.
Buy a shampoo thats designed for oily/greasy hair and gently massage the scalp and leave the shampoo on for a couple of minutes and then rinse. Try and wash the hair every other day or twice in a week.

I've always been told by my hairdresser to wash my hair with warm water as cold water doesn't break down the shampoo... Fair enough, use cold water after rinsing the shampoo, as this also helps to make hair shiny, but I wouldn't solely use cold water to rinse your hair...
thanks for the help, im going to try some new shampoo, admittedly ive been using the same one for probably a year, so yea as they say change is good. I'l also try and wash it less often, going to look discusting i know but hopefully it will be better in the long run.

I'l try using colder water to see if it helps. you never know till you try.
thanks xx

I have problems with some shampoos/conditioners; certain ones make my hair oily and lank while others work wonders. For me, it's just a case of trial and error until I find one that suits. I don't know why but, if I don't blow dry my hair, my hair has a tendency to have an awful damp look hours later when it feels dry to the touch.

Try not to apply shampoo/conditioner to the top of your head if you're having problems. It might be that you're using too much on one particular area so try applying the bulk of it at the back of your head or at the ends and working it upwards instead of down.
I had this problem a little while ago.
I bought a new shampoo, it was by Charles Worthington, and it was called something like shampoo for "oily roots and dry ends", that sorted out the problem for me.
I only used it for a little while, and my problem was gone, I then switched back to my original shampoo, and it hasn't happened again.

I just wondered whether you solved your problem? and how?
i have the exact same thing, but have tried changing shampoos
i already finish with cool water, haven't left condition in,
getting to my wits end over it.
thanks
Firstly, I read recently that the whole 'washing your hair everyday will make it more greasy' is a myth. Everybody has different hair types, some need to wash theirs more than others.
I have the same probem as you, though usually mine is stress-related. Are you anxious about anything at the moment? It could be hormonal.
As others have said, try a shampoo/conditioner targeted at greasy hair, try not too touch it too much either.

I get this sometimes too. Its weird because if I just leave my hair to dry naturally after washing then it goes all greasy and horrible on the same day. But if I blow dry and straighten it after I wash it then its fine and stays clean for longer.

Yeah that happens to me. I don't understand, surely the extra fiddling involved with blowdrying it would make it more greasy.
