UoM Engineering Department

I have read on multiple occasions that the University of Manchester doesn't have a very good engineering department (from reviews), but the majority of other departments are good, which explains its relatively good rankings. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with the engineering department, and if so, could offer any insight as to whether this is true or not.

TB98, I am planninng to study Chemical Engineering at the University of Manchester and based on my research, I have seen that actually for Chemical Engineering they are ranked really good in top 25 universities in the world even in general ranking they ranked 30 something. I had a friend there for chemical engineering 2 years ago and he said that the university is underrated and that he had a great time. I have not read many forums, so I am not sure what they say.
