I do !

Where are you doing it?

I get all sorts of jokes and it does get to me! You can see their point maybe when they are talknig about say, Gcse or even alevel Geography which was at times a bit of a joke. But the subject as a whole is so valuable, its everything around us and the only subject to cover some of the most important challenges to the world.

So grrr people who make colouring in / capital city / hugging trees jokes!

My Geography teacher wore a tweed coat ;yes;

We were colouring in York's drainage basin in geog the other day.

I died inside.
we get the stick for this too. to be fair, we do do a lot of colouring/sticking/cutting with one of our teachers, but its actually relevant i.e. for diagrams etc
plus makes geography so much more fun at A2 :-)

Your missing the point. Theyre just jelous we can do a degree in colouring in and remembering capital cities.
I'm glad to say I didn't take geography after GCSE for reasons like this, lol
but why would you not want to colour in?! would you rather lots of essays every lesson?
We never colour in in geography lessons! I'm jealous. We do watch loads of videos though. I love geography videos...

I just find it irritating that geography is perceived by many to be a "less academic" subject just because it can be over simplified in school. Like ClareR said, it's an incredibly valuable subject which tackles pretty much all of the biggest challenges facing the world today. Who cares if we have fun whilst we're doing it?!

So stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

I'm liking the look of this hanging valley....

i hate it when people say that too, but i had to laugh the other day when i realised that my green pencil was by far the most worn down one i've got.

I find jokes about hanging valleys much more offensive than jokes about colouring in, if I'm being honest.

That is good.
Keep those colour pencils handy.
They are Essential Tools for Geographers.

But this is extreme!!

So you use two coloured pencils at a time ?
And periodically lick the green one to get high ?
Whatever rocks your boat...

I can see why everyone says that Geog is for losers.

I've come across this too- where's the respect fro Geography that it deserves?!?? Am today at Fresher's Fair, there was this really snotty guy who was running the stall of a society I was joining up for, and he asked me what subject I was doing, so I said Geography, and he said: "I can't see why you or anyone would want to do Geography. Geography is crap; it's for losers". :frown: Some random unpleasant person. So I just said "like you" and he was just as snotty as before.

Sounds like Geography IS getting exactly the respect it deserves.
