Hey everyone, I'm an A-Level student who has selected a firm and an insurance uni both in London. However due to personal reasons I cannot study in London and must stay closer to home. I have already planned to gain rejections to enter clearing and apply for another course through clearing. However my question is about the student finance application. I know that you can change your uni on the application if you don't get the results you want on results day, but I was wondering wether I should apply for it as though I am going to London and change it upon results day or just apply as though I am studying on a clearing course as planned? Any input would be great, sorry for the long paragraph.

    Same here, need clarification:

    - If I want to go through adjustment, but don't manage to secure any place I want to this year and reject all offers and opt for a gap yr, what happens to the student loan I apply for beforehand?

Have you thought about applying through Extra instead? You will need to phone your firm, insurance and ucas (maybe more than once) so it might be tricky to arrange but it would mean you apply somewhere now and can sort things before Clearing. You can still use Clearing if Extra doesn't work out for you.

You need to apply for finance at a particular uni. So you need to put your firm - you don't know if you'll get any offers through Clearing. But then you can change this once you know where you're going.

You tell the SLC you're not going anywhere and cancel your finance application. You then reapply for finance next year.

You need to realise that not many people get offers through Adjustment. I cba to look it up because I've just finished work, but I have previously posted the statistics. You also need to be wary of signing anything at your current firm - accommodation contacts can sometimes tie you into paying the whole year even if you don't go.

Thanks man :yy:Need to have a look at those stats - looks like my best plan is to exceed my predictions, and then re-apply after a gap year (even though many don't like it) with the better grades, as I only have offers from unis I don't really wanna to go to
