Mock exams

I know someone's who has just completed mocks and done really well in one of the subjects, but when asked if he revised in the subject that he done really well by a teacher, he said no and the teacher gave him detention and took away marks from his exam . Is this allowed
nope giving someone a detention because they haven't revised so stupid to me
