i thought they'd have more vacancies than that available for clearing considering the amount of courses they have... my course isn't on there but it's only my insurance, i want to get into the course at UMIST really.

My course is on the Salford list as well, but out of 90 only 6 were admited via clearing for my year. Manchester has a low clearing rate so don't worry about it. Some universities have 30% clearing intakes! My univeresity is 6% so I would guess that Manchester is even lower.

the list of courses wont load on my comp, it just keeps bringing the index back up!?????????

They're released a list of the courses they've still got available. My course is on there, trying not to read too much into that though

mine isn't on there, does that mean i have more or less of a chance of having got in?

*fear*

If you get the grades and they have offered you a conditional place they have to let you in by law. If however you don't make the grades I guess there is a chance you won't get in as easily.

i meant, does the fact that my course isn't up there mean there are no vacancies on my course because i've got the right grades?

I would not like to say but when universitiy make offers they allow for the fact that people might not meet the grades, so some people may not get in who have offers but can still fill the course up from all the students that have applied without going through clearing. So I would not use that as a guarentee that you have got in.

oh i wasn't using it as a definite guarantee, i was just wondering. thanks anyway
My luck has gone, psychology has no vacancies  . What the fuck am I gonna do now? :frown:
[desperate]I've got a conditional offer for Computer Science, which is available through clearing this year, meaning there are vacancies...

So...would they be more lenient if i was to miss the grades than if Computer Science wasn't avaliable in clearing?[/desperate]

Hopefully I'll get the grades, but doubt keeps creeping back into my mind...

oh yeah, does anyone know what number i'm to ring to find out if I have a place if I do miss the grades?

Not long to go now

i'm kinda in the same position - except with arabic and islamic studies. and i dnt know whether this is true bt a frend's sister once told me that manchester are ok with letting u in wid slighlty lower grades cos they'd rather do that then have more people come in through clearing.

also i wouldnt mind knowing that number too

and good luck 2 evry1 4 tomorow
