Balliol or ChCh for Law?

I'm reapplying to Oxford to do Law, after rejection last year. I'm trying to avoid having an interview based on a law report given to me an hour beforehand cos I screwed up badly on that last time, and I've also heard Christ Church use statute-analysis in interviews often (and i did better in that interview format last time).

ChCh is one my fave colleges but then tbh I'd rather apply to Balliol. Problem is, I've seen a law report they gave at interview 2 years ago - although it is substantially shorter than the one I had ( and overall, easier) I have a bit of a phobia of the law report now, so I'm afraid to apply to somewhere where I'll probs get that interview format. I dont think I'd forgive myself if I got rejected again, cos I'd always wonder if I wouldve got into ChCh. Any opinions?

What's wrong with the report/statute analysis? You'll either have that, or something which tests very similar skills.

And I imagine that it's something which is directly relevant to your degree and you'll have to do a lot during your time at Oxford, so if you can't analyse such a thing in an interview, maybe a law degree isn't for you?

Sorry, didn't mean to come across quite so harsh! I meant that maybe you should just think long and hard about whether law is really right for you fullstop and not whether Oxford Law course is right for you. I know what it's like to think you should apply for something and then at the last minute it finally dawns on you that what you're applying for might not be best for you and that you might not be best for the course. Make sure, that like me you realise this before wasting an application.

Out of interest, did you get any feedback on why you were rejected last time, or are you just assuming that it was because of the law report? You can't always be a good judge of what went well/badly in interviews I've found in the past, so unless you know for certain that's what let you down then it's not worth worrying about it.
