Hi Everyone!

So I studied sociology at A Level and I am offering any resource materials I have that people request! I studied the old OCR specification, however a lot of the information can be used in both the new specification and other exam boards. I have exemplar essays, information booklets and I am happy to try and answer as many questions that you have.

At AS I studied:

Exploring Socialisation, Culture and Identity
Sociology of the Family

At A Level:
Crime and Deviance
Exploring Social Inequality and Difference

I may not be able to help but if you have any questions at all I will try and answer or help in anyway I can.

Not needing any help, just curious to know what perspectives you were able to learn about?

Hi Sam,

AS Sociology with OCR didn't really look at people's perspectives as much as it did at A Level. I looked at individual sociologists opinions and figures.
Exploring Socialisation, Culture and Identity:
Agents of Socialisation such as Family, Education, Media, Religion, Peer groups and workplace. (Including different sociologists perspectives like Angela McRobbie or Paul Willis).
Gender, age, ethnicity and social class.
Types of culture e.g. consumers or subcultures.
Research processes e.g. ways of collecting data and their advantages or disadvantages.

Sociology of the Family:
Functionalists
Marxists
Feminists
Postmodernists - Family Diversity
Roles, responsibilities and relationships within the family
Key concepts and Trends
Reserve Army of Labour - Ageing population
Childhood as a social construct
Domestic Violence - Radical Feminists, Official Statistics
Social Policy - Conservatives and Labour

Crime and Deviance:
Official statistics, victim surveys and self-report studies
Gender, ethnicity, age, social class.
Functionalists
Subcultures
Marxism and Neo-Marxism
Interactionists
New Right and New Left Realism
Postmodernists
Feminism
Patterns of victimisation
Police, courts, media

Exploring Social Inequality and Difference:
Gender, age, social class, ethnicity.
Inequalities e.g. health, wealth
Marxists and Neo-Marxists
Weberians and Neo-Weberians
Feminism
Functionalists
New Right and New Left Realism
Postmodernists
Research Methods - Types e.g. Questionnaires, interviews and their advantages/disadvantages.
Positivists
Interpretivists
Realism

I know it's a lot but it may help others who view the thread
