If a European country, some time in the future, became 51% Muslim would it be the same country, with the same laws and values?

"Simple answer, nope". Hahahahahhaahahahaha pathetic

Well, it depends on what interpretation of Islam. Liberal Islam would be compatible with European countries, just like Liberal Christianity is. If you're talking about Saudi style Islam, no it's not compatible with European values.

Read the question wrong, thought it was asking whether or not a European country would remain the same with 51% of the population being Muslim.

While Turkey is not exactly European it is pretty close to one. Yet it is secular.

Turkey isn't exactly a shining example of democracy at the minute

Was referring to the secular laws rather than its current political climate.

Turkey is strict in ways. A country that is 51% Muslim is flucked to be frank.

Laws are irrelevant if they aren't adhered to.

To the second person that replied: there aren't enough liberal Muslims globally to meet the 51% requirement in any larger Western European nation (Germany, France, England, etc.). And they would have enough trouble trying to stay alive, such as with the persecution of Ahmadi. It's bad enough when they're few in number, let alone when the conservative strands seem they becoming ever more a presence in the faith.

And the answer is no. People will mention Turkey, but that clearly hasn't worked. It had a pretence of being secular for a little while. But as I have pointed out above, there is now a revival of conservatism and nationalism. Looking more like the Ottoman Empire with each passing day.

No it wouldn't because Islamic culture and Western culture and values are completely different. If Muslims became the majority, they would have far more influence in our nation's culture.

Worth noting that this is very unlikely to happen in our lifetime
