Sex, as people say is one of the integral parts of the college/university experience and that part of the fun of being young is that one should experiment and seek the pleasures of this intimate part of human nature.

I have a problem with this viewpoint because I feel that patriotism not sex is the integral part of human nature, in simpler terms the strive for greatness of one's nation should be of the greatest importance of one's life and university experience rather than the unnatural quest to get laid.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I have to go anoymous because when I have discussed this view with others i have been called a right wing extremist.

What would you define as patriotism?

If I use your example: love of one's nation.

Now, I do not deny that I believe it is important to feel a mutual bond between everyone in a community for the furtherance of common humanity and empathy, but why limit this to a particular nation? What good comes from the belief that my humanity should only be extended to the British, and not to any other nationality? And what constitutes furtherance of the nation?

If we are looking at the relative health of a nation, you might look at macro factors like population, in which case sex is very important, as you cannot reproduce without an understanding of sexual intercourse (notice i've defined this as also accepting IVF, you don't need to have sex, but you do need to understand it). If like me, you believe happiness and pleasure should be the basis of civilized society, sex can be a very pleasant and necessary part of the nations progress.

I have to say that i agree entirely with the later part of your statement, that sex can form an important of a nation's happiness but what im beggining to notice especially from my friends back in the uk university system and from experiences clubbing in the uk is that sex is becoming the ultimate quest of most of the student generation (a free love, no responsiblity attidude, consistent with what one may regard as hippys) instead of the enhancement of the nation. I feel that this is detrimental in the case of the United Kingdom because we have a national debt of £2trillion, an NHS that is practically failing while people demand extra sexual health clinics and at the time of Brexit a need to change our stance in the world and yet to the many of the student generation getting laid is the ultimate objective instead of combating the problems listed in the previous sentence. In a slight irony (as i despise the word and the whole movement), i feel that im woke as im aware of the problems and they who prcolaim that they are woke are blinded by sex and the quest to get laid

How is something (the nation state) that has only existed for 0.00001% of human existence an integral part of human nature?

Humans have been ****ing for 100% of their existence.

So **** away.

Problem is my friend patriotism is entirely unnecessary and in my eyes is a further cause of division in our fragile world. I'm not gonna start effin' and bloopin' that I'm British or English or whatever.

You wanna know the truth? I, like many, many others, don't care! So what? I was born on this Island and that's the top and bottom of it. You want me and others to start believing that our slab of land is better than some others?

I'm pleased and feel fortunate to be born British, but pride and "patriotism"? That stuff can go to hell.

Also, wrong thread category.
