As a pharmacist you can work your way up the ladder and earn up to £60K. It's pretty well paid for locum work too.

However, I think physiotherapy would probably be better paid overall, but it really would depend on where you work and what sort of job you are doing (ie hospital or community etc).

Is there a higher demand for pharmacists? And which is easier to do in uni?

OP- hope you dont mind

actually, there is plenty of demand..............the NHS needs more physios.....................whats needed is more money to employ them....its not about demand

Reply 5

maybe not, but still there are loads of newly qualified physios that cant get jobs

you're quite right but the situation is resolving............in three years time when the op is likely to finsih uni its unlikely to be an issue

I don't know about demand really. Or how hard/easy either course is. But Pharmacy is 4 years and I imagine it would contain a lot of complicated chemistry. Physio is only 3 years.

Physiotherapy graduates are known for not being able to find work...

I guess an important distinction between the two careers is that physio requires a high level of 'people skills'. As a physio you'd be working with all sorts of people with all sorts of problems, having to communicate with them effectively, having to physically assist them to move, and dealing with their bodily excretions! If you're not a people-person - don't go for physio!!

Pharmacy on the other hand I would imagine to be much more academic kind of work. Obviously if you work in a chemist you'd have to give basic advice and chat with all the old grannies etc.!

But they are two pretty different careers. Best bet - get some work experience/shadowing and see which you enjoy the most.

Good luck whatever you decide:smile:

Physios don't earn as much as pharmacists do they?

If you cant find a job in the NHS just work in a private practice or go abroad?
