Refer to what the definition of "average speed" is and apply it.

Total distance over total time taken

210 x 70 = time b to c
5- time = time from a to b
Time from a to b / 50 = distance
(210 + a to b distance ) / total time

It would be better if you didn't solve it and let others learn 🙄

Sorry, was busy and missed the last notif.

So as I've mentioned, the average speed is given by average speed=total distance travelledtotal time taken\displaystyle \text{average speed} = \frac{\text{total distance travelled}}{\text{total time taken}}

For the journey from Appleton (A) to Cantham (C), you are told that the total time is 5 hours therefore you just need to know the distance from A to C.

Your are told that from Brockley (B) to C the car travels at 70mph and the distance is 210, therefore, how long does the journey take to go from B to C??

Once you find this time tt, subtract it from 5 hours and the result (which is 5t5-t) will be the time taken to go from A to B. You that the speed from A to B is 50mph, therefore what is the distance?? Call this distance dd

Then the total distance would be A to B (which we call dd) add on the distance from B to C (which is 210).

Then just go back to the average speed formula and calculate it.
