Do you ever get embarrased about being around your parents?

I don't anymore coz I don't live with them

But when I was growing, omg. Soo embarrased, I used to RUN AWAY from them whenever I saw my friends and we were out. But I mean, they just didn't care about their appearance and wore the geekiest, worst clothes ever. PLUS at one stage, my mother was overweight but she's done something about that now so's ok. But still, embarrasing!

kthx.

No I didn't, from what I remember.

Though I do sometimes find myself getting embarrassed for no reason. If I'm just on a train alone, or walking down a street, I feel myself getting embarrassed but I have no idea why. It's a bit annoying really.

I would have thought that everyone is embrassed by their parents really at some point.

my mum? oh dear god yes....you have no idea.
if my dad were still alive on the other hand, i would have nothing but pride in being his son .

I was embarrased by them when I was younger, even now my dad tries to embarrass me, but it doesn't happen very often anymore. I'm not cool enough to get worried about it, plus I like going to see them. They live 200 miles away, I enjoy the time I have with them!

A little bit. Though running away from them is really extreme :p:

I don't like being with my parents and being with my friends at the same time. My family really don't know me, they just know the person they think is me. Therefore it's awkward when they are present when I'm with friends.

hell no..........i used to drag my mom clubbing cos shes wicked fun. Sos my dad if hes in the mood.

suffice to say though my mom enjoyed embarressing us as kids - nowadyas we just get out own back

Occasionally I suppose if I'm out with them, but that's more because they're my parents and it's a natural reaction to feel embarrassed - not because they do anything specific which really embarrasses me. They know I like my family independence and never do anything to show me up, so I'm grateful for that.

I don't get embarrassed all the time, just every now and then if they say something really stupid. Or if my mum goes into a shop on the way too or from teaching a dance class, still just in leotard and jazz trousers...

I get embarrassed by my brother too, because he's 16 and thinks he's really cool and really really metal.

I go the pub with my Dad all the time, at least when I'm not at uni. He says some things to embarass me now and again, but it's cool. As for my Mum, well, I don't live with her so I hardly see her. I'm at the stage now where I don't care whether it's cool to be out with my parents; they're my parents, and I'll go out with them (I say them, it'll be one of them or the other, never together) if want/need to.

Years ago my mum took me out clothes shopping when I was about 11. Anyway in the store, we split up so I could choose the dress I wanted. While I was picking mine out my mum suddenly shouted at me from across the store because she'd picked up a pair of knickers she thought I might like. Flat out shouted and everyone heard.

I've never been out with her since. Or back in that store. :frown:

My mum is really embarassing! She can hardly speak English and yet pretends like she studied at Oxford. Also, she constantly brags about herself. It's funny because I'm the complete opposite.

My parents didnt care about what they dressed in either, married life I suppose.

Got over it, couldnt really care what way they dress and I'm not embarrassed to be seen with them.

Reply 14

No, not really. Perhaps if I was still five...

Reply 15

i don't care, i dont mind seeing people i know if i'm shopping at the supermarket with my mum.

my parents don't really embarrass me.

Reply 16

No way do they.

I'm sure it happened when I was younger - like someone said, everyone's been embarrassed by their parents at some point - but I can't actually remember ever having been embarrassed of or while being with them. I was sure I'd have an answer as to why, but when I think about it I don't think I do. It's just one of those things.

It's a bit embarrasing when my mum starts talking to one of my friends about something that they obviously don't really care about. Usually about her job.

^ yeah that gets embarassing. My mum often does that with my friends. She often talks about how certain clients get really annoying and goes on about her day.
