After my interview I received a conditional offer to an external Sixth Form offering me a place there. I heard in an assembly though at my current school something bizarre to me:

Person A gets 9A*s in their GCSE - lives 5 miles from the external Sixth Form
Person B scrapes the entry requirements - lives 2 miles from the external Sixth Form

Person B gets the place at the external Sixth Form because they live closer (the school has no say in this - the government give them no option).

I was wondering if this was entirely true, and that this conditional offer prevented anything like that happening to me if someone scraped the entry requirements and lived closer to me.

Thanks!

As long as you get minimum entry requirements for your sixth form/college, there is no chance you will get rejected or turned away. Not really sure why they gave the example they did, but it does sound confusing. Relax, it's only sixth form.

I've never heard of this for anything above high school but they can't go back on a condtitional offer legally if you meet the requirements. Unless the requirements involve moving closing (which I'm sure they don't) then you'll have a place. If not, you have the right to sue the college for breahc of contract.
