Hi,
What would you guys recommend to do when comparing poems etc? Right now I'm memorising annotations from 5 poems from the power and conflict cluster (Remains, London, Kamikaze, Exposure and My Last Duchess). Could you suggest revision techniques for the lit exam?
Thanks,
Stephen

Revise for them in a comparative way, instead of on their own. Also, i recomend the Hodder revision guide and quizlet for key quotations x

I'm glad you're doing my last duchess! It's my favourite one.
I don't know whether you've learnt acronyms to remember what to include but we learnt 'FLIRT'
F: form/structure
L: Language
I: Imagery (metaphors etc)
R:Rhyme/rhythm
T: Theme
Using this and ensuring you talk about context and the reader will ensure that you don't miss any points out. To ensure a good comparison just include connectives like 'however', 'similar to' as this will show that you've thought about both poems.
I made flash cards with all the poems on and test myself on what goes under which category and quotes.
Hope this is what your looking for!
And good luck!
