Hey,I'm on the fashion design and development course, and one of the biggest worries for me was definitely feeling this course would restrict how creative I could be, and that it would be boring or very commercial etc. But something I've found out while studying here (on my placement year at the moment) is how you need to learn about creating your own identity and business, because ultimately you need to sell what you make, what's the point in making something creative when you don't know how to sell it? I'm not sure about Kingston as I don't know anyone on the course but I guess it's about what you want to prioritise. Another tip I learnt during foundation was that no one can teach you to be creative, it's something you should explore on your own. First year in this course is about making your basic skills concrete, and it's about what you do with those skills and how you do it that will lead to a creative outcome. Students in this course also vary in their target markets, ranging from commercial high street to luxury RTW, in this aspect it is very free what you do. I hope this helps! Good luck!
