does anybody know if the unis allocate more places than they have spaces? e.g a course holds 60 places do they allocate just the 60 of do they offer more?!

    They offer more.

How many threads on this by one person?

    can we stick to one?

They only offer more if they have to - i.e. everyone makes their grades. They NEVER offer more than they have to , as they do not get any government funding for going over quota - they have to pay themselves for ever student they are over. for something like medicine or dentistry this can ber VERY expensive for them!
