Dealing with ANGER.

Hello.

I do get terrible anger problems. These are triggered by particular situations. Say I have put much effort into, (I know this sounds pathetic) a playstation game, and I lose, I can stay calm for the first few times, then I get a kind of knotted feeling in my stomach and I can EXPLODE into a rage. I get that physical feeling and it needs to be realeased. I was thinking about this today, and thought about the amount of mobile phones I've smashed and various other things, I sound like a lunatic. I know a punchbag would feel *SO* good to let the rage out on, but I do not have one.

Serious question, do others feel anger phsically and to the same extent?

I bottle up my extreme emotions, so no. Although I may have felt these extreme emotions I can keep them to myself. {most of the time}

I used to get angry over little things like that, but I've grown out of it now

Stress balls help enormously, they helped me out in loads of rather frustrating situations, try buying one of those, they only cost like a quid :yy:

No, I don't really. Actually I get angry playing Squash sometimes... but not angry angry, just the odd smack of the racquet against the wall angry.

Maybe buy a punchbag?

Also learn to control your anger. It is a deeply unattractive quality in a person, not to mention extremely bad for your health (especially when it's about something as mundane as Playstation). Try breathing deeply and counting to 10 or something similar.

Or read some Buddhist texts.

Yes, I am exactly the same as you. I am sick of replacing playstation 2 controllers because I keep smashing them. I also used to keep snapping my golf clubs when I hit a bad shot. I have terrible anger problems in a lot of things, generally if I get distressed by something instead of break down I get very angry and take it out on anything. I have no idea how to calm down yet, but if I find out I will let you know :p:

yeah I get very angry too, I think it was linked to some other problems though and had to see doctor.

Why not try getting a punchbag? Or just jumping onto your bed and punching your pillow until you exhaust yourself - saves on broken mobiles/controllers etc.

Hello,

I found the ps1 controllers were real hard to crack compared to the flimsy ps2's. ;yes;

Headbutting a brick wall might do the trick.

Tad unhelpful for the cleaners who have to get rid of the mess though...

Yeah, I used to be really bad at losing my temper, I kind of get this feeling where I just HAVE to hit or break something, once I ended up punching one of my mates because of it, but then we were kinda play-fighting at the time and it was like 5 years ago...(I'm not a psychopath, honest :p: )

Now, I'm much better at controlling it, if I ever get that feeling then I can just wait until I find a suitable moment to purge it. Generally if mundane things annoy me now, I have a complete monologue of a rant, where I curse alot and swear, but then I feel much better.

So yeah, Anger can be hard to deal with. And like someone else said, its a deeply unattractive thing to have in someone, I don't get that annoyed much any more either.

I have the same thing. I can put up with being insulted, even bullied without turning. But get me on PES or basically any game and I soon become an enraged maniac who won't quit because i won't let that ******* machine beat me!

I'm often very docile with occasional moments of pure anger, such as when I punched a hole in a door when my team went out of Europe a few years ago. My Dad wasn't impressed :frown:

Actually, that reminds me of when I punched a hole in a wall in my Student Halls in the first/second week of first year. I was drunk and there was a girl I really fancied, I didn't have the guts to say anything and she ended up with some other guy, I think I was mega frustrated, ruing my lack of self-confidence.

Ah well...

My old Snes controller got simialr treat by being launched at a wall

lol dunno how to deal with it but im fine this way you know :eek: once i let all my anger out i feel so relieved and relaxXxed :smile: but i get even more angry a couple of minutes later because of the danger i caused :P

Yeah I think games are bad for your temper :smile:
I'm an extremely calm guy unless I'm playing a game and can't do something, then I just flip lol. Playing games is the only time when this happens though, so I'm not too worried about it.

It is a sad but true fact, they just don't make things like they used to.

Incidentally last year I punched my monitor, cracked the screen and cracked my knuckle. For a computer game. Now we have a flat screen flimsy one, so I have to try real hard not to give it a little smack in anger. :redface:

When i get angry and hit stuff and make a loud noise it gives me gf a shock so she sort of makes a screechy noise which makes me 10x more angry. Ive been getting angry at smaller and smaller things these days i used to be so chilled out.

I've been getting SO angry lately. And last week I was furious, i dont even know why now, first I started punching my bed and screaming to my pillow then I laid on the ground and bashed myself...

lol not good.
I am crazy, i either do that or self harm other ways...

maybe its because youre either on your periods or there are a few days left for them?

coz i ve heard you become more emotional and unstable during those days.

I've had these sort of problems for years; sometimes I can just about beat the anger down or employ damage limitation (e.g smash the control pad into a matress instead of the floor/table) but I can't seem to defeat the anger issues. They're not just present when I play computer games - anything competitive - pool, football etc. or even just everyday life on occasion.

Go for a run / do some push-ups.
