UK Slang Words

Dearest all,

I'm having problems understanding some of the slang words used in this forum. I was hoping that you would be kind enough to explain to me what the words actually mean?
(I'm obviously not from this part of the world)

1) rah
Context: "I feel uneasy in this college, because it is full of rahs who think too highly of themselves."

2) posh

Context: "Please stop your insults for I am not acting posh!"

3) public school / private school

Context: "Prestigious University X is obviously biased against students from private schools."

4) Fit

Context: "Gosh, the girls at University Y are so fit!"

For slang: http://www.urbandictionary.com

Private/public schools are fee-paying ones, as opposed to state schools which are payed for by the taxpayer.

Public schools = People pay to go to them.
Private schools = State run.

However, many people use it the other way around

4) Fit

I quite like urbandictionarys definition:

Someone who went to private school (or wish they had), likes rugby (not football), probably a member of a rowing, sailing or yachting club, refer to their parents as "Mummy and Daddy".
Boys: often seen to be wearing a lemon (or any pastel shade) sweatshirt slung casually over their shoulders and deck shoes.
Girls: Dress similar to that of boys along with pearls, numerous shopping bags and Daddy's credit card.
Names often include: Rupert, Will, Guy, Jeremy, Emily, Alexandra, Henrietta, Harriet. Followed by a double/triple barrelled surname, e.g. Harrington-Smythe.

>I think this one's been answered, I like the "Rich Arse Holes" answer lol

2) posh

>upperclass, speak very well, pronouce their 'aitches' and usually talk down to working, middleclass people. Normally RAHs.

3) public school / private school

Context: "Prestigious University X is obviously biased against students from private schools."

>Private schools: Normal hang-out of the posh RAHs. Mummy and Daddy have paid upto £6,000 per term for their child to get 'better' education then that provided in state -paid by the taxpayer- schools.

4) Fit

Context: "Gosh, the girls at University Y are so fit!"

>Really attractive girls or boys (yes, boys can be fit too)
