Car Parking....Help!

Hi All,

This thread may seem a little odd and pathetic to some of you...but im hoping I may get some help.

I am a first year student at loughborough, and you proberly know i cant easily get a parking permit. I spoke to security and they said that they would put me on a waiting list, but its not likely.

I'm trying to get my car to uni not for short journeys (I like walking) but because i attend alot of lectures outside of uni and go to nottingham on a sunday morning (which i cant because the public transport route cant go where i need :frown: ), also my parents are moving soon and then selling their cars so getting home will cost me the earth.

Do any of you have any inside knowledge of where I could keep my car? (literally anywhere!!)

Or is there any returners that would be willing to apply for a permit for me (who doesn't have one)...I wouldn't ask unless I really needed it!.. i'm currently in william morris hall.

Thanks in advance for your help!

i'm afraid chances are you're gonna have to put up with it, like most freshers do.

i wanted my car with me for my first year, but i couldn't get a permit for campus.

There are local by-laws in place to stop students parking on the roads around campus (you might have seen signs about them) and first years aren't allowed to park on campus, so it's kinda tough luck.

Only thing I can suggest is making friends with a returner who lives in a house and doesn't use their driveway, but there's a fairly slim chance of that...

So you'll probably have to stick to lectures here and get the train/bus home like the rest of us all had to in our first year.

to be honest though i know loads of first years who had cars either on campus and were good at hiding from security, or mainly off campus and just found little roads n stuff, it might not be close by but u enjoy walking so oh well! just hal a wander round for non permit streets, i know where i live on kingfisher estate there isnt a need for one so anyone can park anywhere, and i think near the holt there r roads that dont need permits, and you will probs find more

If you're in Bill Mo, contact Unite direct, as there may be a few spaces around the hall that you can have, or at Harry French, as Unite have different parking rules to the on-campus car parks

Edit:

You just won't be able to park on campus though, unless the Uni Security also issue you a permit.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, I spoke to security they said theres a good chance of getting a permit, apparently Unite no longer deal with any parking places. If not the road by the hall has places all the time.

Cheers again
