Should you do a Foundation course at the same uni you want to study at?

Are you supposed to apply to do a Foundation course at the same uni you want to study at for for your degree, or is it seen as perfectly fine and acceptable to move around once you've got your Foundation course?

It's better to do it at the same university as it will be "compatible" but other universities might accept it if the modules are suitable for their degrees.

What sort of foundation are you talking about?

For an art and design foundation diploma then it's common to move after the foundation diploma (although many universities offer guaranteed progression so it's a good idea if you're interested in a very competitive degree)

For a foundation year then unless you're international and taking a freestanding foundation year it is rare (and can be difficult) to change university.

I think it'd either be a humanities foundation, or a degree with a foundation year, like, 'English Lit with a foundation year'. I think that might be what your referring to when you say it's rare and difficult to change unis?
