I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about people coming to stay and parking on campus. I live down in Cartmel and my boyfriend is coming to stay with me and driving up. He will be here a few weekdays as well as the weekend and I know that if he parks here during the week (or I think this is right!) he could get a ticket or be clamped. I heard something about visitor parking, does anyone know how it works and how much it costs?! And also, where he would have to park for it? Thanks in advance for any help!
The nearest visitor parking to Cartmel is on the perimeter road between Pendle and InfoLab (I think). This is called South Avenue if it's any help at all. The parking is not marked on campus maps, which is a bit naughty. It is pay and display, don't know how much it costs, and they are quite keen on issuing tickets if you don't pay. I've seen whole rows of cars with tickets on them there.
Really? During the week? No fines? I didn't know that. My parents always pay to park in the visitor's car park, cos we are good and do as we are told! Are you telling me they could park in SW for free?
I went to get my parking permit and the woman was saying that security will be very relaxed in the first couple of weeks cos they take a while to process. Also you can get 2 tickets b4 you get clamped so worry when you've had 2. Down SW shouldnt be a problem this early in the year.
Thanks for the help! Lizj Possibly stupid question (but I don't recall having even seen them!...) are the pay and display machines there next to the spaces?
Yeah, well, there's one machine there. There are about 10-12 bays on your right just before you get to Infolab. You don't really notice them unless you are looking for visitor's parking as it looks just like every other bit of the perimeter road. I think it is best for short stays, it might get a bit expensive if you were going to park there for days on end.
