Apparently they call it 'giving the gift'. :s-smilie:

I have no idea...
Is that ACTUALLY true?

Uh... where in the HELL did you get that from?
There's a documentary on BBC2 about HIV right now if you're interested...

But in answer to your question, I really don't know. And I'm quite glad I don't know, I don't particularly want to understand these strange thought processes.

I just turnt it on, and, people want to play Russian roulette with a HIV sufferer?!?
Reply 6
I think some gay males do that so they don't have to worry about getting HIV/AIDS in the future. Stupid logic, but there's a minority of gays out there who subscribe to it.
Reply 7
That is absoloutley ridiculous! Do people really think like that?!

sorry, forgot to mention im watching Steven Fry: HIV and me, BBC2 9-10 (part 1 of 2)

One bouncer found out he was HIV positive: 800 women phoned in to the HIV centre (he slept with one a night)

one died, 4 were HIV positive.

Shocking eh?!

A bouncer slept with 800 women? Or did I completely misunderstand that?

I think Bismarck has the right idea and it is very stupid logic if that's why they do it :s-smilie:

Some info on wiki about it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bug_chasing

Oh yeah, there was a web forum dedicated to this that was in Weekend Web on Something Awful a while ago. Wish I could find the article itself. Anybody remember the name?

Like Bismarck says, it's some sort of "get it over with" mindset, so as they can get down to some serious buttsecks without any annoying distractions such as contraception.

Wow. Thats crazy.
It's horrible and makes me feel ill.
Yeah I've heard of 'gift giving' before, personally I think homophobic ***** telling gay men that they are going to get HIV play a big part in it, I don't suppose it's particularly common plenty of people have never heard of it. It's supposedly to remove anxiety of 'waiting around to get it' so people take matters into their own hands, it's awful.
My friend was telling me about a girl at her university (Southampton) who contracted HIV in her 1st year. She didn't tell anyone and then went out and had a series of one night stands with other university students. I believe she's still doing it.

I told my friend she should report her but I doubt she will. It's horrible. :frown:

Why would anyone do that? You're basically killing other people. Aren't you?
yep.

Yes, basically. Although there have been major advances in the treatment of HIV/AIDS (anti-retroviral drugs and so on), AIDS is still incurable.

I don't understand why anyone would knowingly put themselves in a situation where they were likely to contract HIV, or infect someone else if they were HIV+ themselves.
