Personally, I think jeremy Corbyn is a socialist :innocent::innocent::innocent::innocent:, and I won't ever consider the labour party till he has gone. So for this case I would vote conservative.

The Labour Party is a socialist party... they should definitely have a socialist as their leader

Tories will probably win by a landslide. If not, it may turn into a coalition between Labour and Lib Dems. May wouldn't call it if she knew she wouldn't win.

I'm so fed up of voting at this point - we can't go for more than a few months can we?? voter turnout is probably going to be incredibly low just because everyone is so burned out at this point. That said i'll probably vote lib dem - i live in a tory stronghold and even though that isn't going to change, the lib dems are our best chance at not ending up that sh*itty shade of blue again..

Not true actually. Labour was never for socialism. The parliamentary party, the trade union bureaucracy and the think tanks (especially the Fabian society) were in fear of a working class revolution. They enacted policies in order to prevent such an occurrence. You could probably give Tony Cliff's "The Labour Party - a Marxist History" a read if you can find it. It's not particularly great but it does give a run down of the history that's not usually told, citing many sources and such.

Just look at labours first prime minister. The closest we've had to socialism was Clement Atlee even still he was a social democrat although due post war needs his policies reflected a democratic socialist.

Labour has always been a socially Democratic Party, and with the amendment of clause IV this became clear and led it to abandon all links to socialism - but it remained a socially Democratic Party.

Labour has no roots in socialism, this country has never had appetite for it. People easily confuse social democracy with socialism. One is a great door to prosperity the other is a death trap. One is a door to communism the other is the belief of a regulated capitalist society where capitalists create the opportunity and workers do jobs for them with fair conditions.

I wouldn't say labour is a socialist party, it has links and influences but it isn't based on the idea of transforming the economy.

Tell me about it, the news already bang on about the 'developments' that are happening with Brexit on a daily basis. Imagine how much worse it's going to get!!!!!! They should stop calling it the news and just call it 'how has brexit changed today'

I'm just annoyed that I will be too young to vote by a week I think May has made the right call by doing this, as Labour are in no position to win a general election and she can extend her government's term by 2 years (next election in 2022 rather than 2020). It'll also shut up the people who moan that May hasn't been 'elected' (even though we don't vote for the PM, campaigns are usually based around the party leader).

Utter waste of time. It's an ego trip for May. It will only serve to reaffirm her position as PM. However, there is a glimmer of hope for the left. There still is a small chance that the left can win a campaign against a hard Brexit.

Of course he's a socialist, have you been asleep these last few years?

Not that there's anything inherently wrong with socialism in theory. In practice, though, it doesn't work.
