I don't know about that theory but If I've been thinking about something all day or something has been preying on my mind I usually dream about it. Have no idea if you can actually will yourself to dream of something

It's called lucid dreaming. Have a wee google
Isn't Lucid dreaming when you are aware you are dreaming and can exert a certain control over what happens?

I love dreams like that, not that they happen very often

Yeah that's kinda the same with me. I sometimes have dreams that relate to things I've thought about or done that day (or fairly recently). Thinking about stuff before I go bed never seems to work though. Would have some amazing dreams if it was that easy
Lucid dreaming is the ability to control ones dream. surely that isnt lucid dream

That's why I asked lol...sitting in bed on the laptop here thinking, i'd love one of those great dreams when you wake up and think wow, that was an amazing dream
If I want to dream of something I try to think of it really hard before I nod off...and hopefully I dream of it.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...and sometimes I can't remember
What's bad is when you are having a really good dream and something wakes you up, all you want to do is turn back over ans go back to your dream but by that time you've lost it lol

That's the same with me!! I always find my alarm goes off when the best part is just about to happen :frown: :p:
^^^Ditto

Another anoyying thing is when you know you've had a really good dream but after half an hour you can't remember it, you just have the warm feeling about it.

Damn the short term memory and it's shortness!

I just realised I have a lots of gripes about losing good dreams lol :p:

I hate waking up thinking "did that actually happen?"

i do that! i think about something nice before i go to sleep and i (most of the time) have a really nice dream about it!!
Has anyone ever gone to bed and then blinked (or what felt like a blink) and it was the morning? Its only happened to me like 3 or 4 times but it was really ace.

Only when I'm shattered. Then I have to drag myself out of bed again:redface:

Lucid dreams are when you know your dreaming and can control it. The main reason people remember a dream is because they wake up in them. Often you wont remember a dream because you didn't wake up in it. I have managed to go back into a dream a few times after waking up and then falling back to sleep on purpose because it was a good dream but then i forget i'm in the dream lol. Most people will end up dreaming about what was on their subconscience during that day or any issues that are on their mind be them good or bad.
What's absolutely rubbish is when you wake up and realise your fantastic dream didn't happen :frown:
I'm lucky with dreams.

I usually dream about things that I have been talking about that day [for example I was talking about meeting up with a friend yesterday and dreamt about meeting him]. At the very least I dream about things VERY recent and relavant to my life. If I go to sleep thinking about someone or something they will CERTAINLY appear in my dream.

I have had and quite often have lucid dreams, I'd love to know what causes them to be honest, I generally don't enjoy knowing I'm dreaming all that much. But I have a slight obsession with my dreams and the events that unfold in them [and the possible "meanings" of them - I mean, a dream HAS to have some meaning, right??].

I think I haven't dreamt about twice in my life, and both times I closed my eyes, opened them, and it was morning. There seemed to be no time delay AT ALL and it actually freaked me out a little bit, didn't like it at all.

My dreams are also usually very long [as in, they SEEM to last at least a day, sometimes longer, even if they do in reality only last a few seconds/minutes] so half of my life and sometimes MORE is spent dreaming. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't dream anymore, I think that I wouldn't really want to sleep except from utter exhaustion really.
