The deadline is 15 January, but if i were to apply, say, on 13 January, would i be at a disadvantage? I know people apply early and some even get offers before the 15 January deadline. will universities overlook the ones who apply later? Im looking at UCL, Nottingham, Durham, LSE and Warwick/Bristol.

You have ages to apply, just get it in on time.

Strictly, no, it shouldn't affect your chances, but you can never be completely sure, so it is better to apply ASAP.

LSE does apparently wait until it has all its applications in before it starts to reply, though. I don't know if someone can validate this and confirm it is true though.

As long as your application is in before the Jan 15th deadline, you are required to be considered. The only thing it might affect is how quickly you get offers; it will inevitably take longer in January (as everyone who wants to go will have to put it in in Jan and so they will have a huge amount to process) than in October/November (I applied mid November in the 2017 entry cycle and got all responses within three weeks, but some who applied in January are still waiting for responses). The only time your application may not be considered alongside the others is if you get it in after the deadline. It's a requirement that as long as it's in before the deadline, the uni has to at least look at it and respond. Hope this helps!
You shouldn't be at a disadvantage.

All applications received before the Jan deadline are guaranteed equal consideration. It does matter if you apply in October or before 15 January or any time in between...
