Hello, I just needed some help in how to answer an economic loss question.

I understand how to answer the basic negligence question
1)d owed a duty of care
    2) d was in breach of the duty of care
    3)damage was not too remote
    3) damages
    4) defences

I just don't understand where the economic loss part goes?
any answers would really be appreciated.

Consequential economic loss can be claimed for, but pure economic loss cannot, unless it falls under the category of negligent misstatement (which has been extended to include negligently performed services). It goes something like this:
    1) D owed a duty of care because of the rules laid out in Hedley Byrne v Heller (which establish a 'special relationship' between D and C)
    2) D breached their duty of care by getting it wrong (making the negligent misstatement)
    3) Damage was not too remote
    4) Damages

(This is what I've learnt at A Level anyway)
