Sad?

Hello, I don't know whether I'm going to post this, I'll see.

The same thing's happened to me for the last 3 years. Around October, it's as if I go through a complete personality change... I'm a naturally cheerful, chatty, hardworking at school, enthusiastic... but every winter I become withdrawn, really sad, and so very tired. I can even pinpoint when it starts - it's the first day of the year when I have to turn on the light in the morning to get dressed, and it just gets progressively worse. I struggle to get out of bed in the morning, no matter how much sleep I get I never feel 'refreshed', and I hesitate to use the word 'depressed' but I guess that's how I'd describe it, I lose all my confidence, feel totally withdrawn, and of course there are good days but it's not until about March/April that I start feeling like myself again :frown: sometimes it gets to the evening and I struggle to remember what I've done with my time all day because I've been too tired to remember.

Er, sorry for rambling. I guess what I'm asking is, do any of you have any experience with SAD, and does this sound anything like it? I'm not expecting a diagnosis, since we are on the internetz, you're (most likely) not doctors and it would just be silly, but any advice would be gratefully received. I've got through the last 3 years well enough but I'm feeling terrible already and I'm in year 13 and can't afford to mess up this year.

Thanks in advance xxx

It sounds as if you do have SAD -- I get very tired, withdrawn, and run-down in the winter, as the nights get progressively darker. If you're really concerned about it affecting your exam performance, you might want to invest in a lightbox. You can get them from various places, including here: http://www.lumie.com/shop
