This is the problem I alluded to when asking folk to request specific course codes before making those assumptions. I'll look at which law courses are in for Aberdeen, they might only be the ones for tiddlywink law!

It could give some idea as to popularity of a course, likelihood of success if applying with predictions slightly below grade requirement or likelihood of being accepted if you don't quite make your offer. Can be useful particularly when choosing your insurance choice.
Also if you are adopting a high risk strategy with your choices by only going for top unis then if you don't get a place on results day but still have great results then looking at clearing unis will give some idea of who will snap you up! You'd have to play safer if clearing could offer nothing you'd be interested in.

fair enough!! better answer than i was expecting. i wasn't having a go, i jus couldn't think of a practical application really. make sure you're not trying to play purely a numbers game with your application. apply where you want to go, not where you think you're guaranteed to get in. there is always clearing to get into these places.....

Ahhh thankee Drongo, looks like all the "Legal Studies" or "X with Legal studies" etc courses are in clearing, and the only LLB course in clearing is the "Accelerated graduates only". Merci beaucoup!

I would search UCAS for the codes for Kings before you take that as the courses you want, they might be things like "Chemistry with bioscience", or something along those lines, instead of "Biochemistry". Example, "Law" at Aberdeen is in clearing, but when Drongo gave the course codes it was only courses like "Politics and Legal studies" that were actually offered through clearing and none of the LLB courses (bar one for accelerated graduates). The titles can be quite broad and unspecific.

You pick your firm and your insurance, and then your other offers are void I think.
Hopefully these two Unis are ones you want to go to.
Then if you don't meet the conditional for either of these you can use clearing.
So if you don't accept the crappy filler uni you applied to, despite the fact you got an initial place, you can still use clearing.
