Well say many apply to 'better' unis for pharmacy, and end up getting in, so if they take the 'better' unis, kings should have empty places, hence clearing.

Because, contrary to popular misguided belief, courses do not have to be in Extra to be in Clearing.

They probably had lots of applicants, but lots of people missed their offers.

And a course being in Clearing does not mean that there are loads of places - it might be that there were just one or two, left over from people who missed their offers by a lot.
