Molecule: LiH
Electronic configuration of Li: 1s2 2s1
Electronic configuration of H: 1s1
The S orbitals in LiH overlap, so bring bonding and non bonding orbitals.
But why doesn't this happen with HF?
The 1s or 2s orbital of Fluroine don't overlap with the 1s orbital of hydrogen but rather the 2p orbital of fluroine overlaps with hydrogen
is it because we only need to consider the overlap between valence electrons?
