So I am doing A2 english lit and i need to write an essay response to:

'The poems in Feminine Gospels are a cry of rage and fustration.
Does your reading of the collection agree with this view?'

So far we have just been working on the poems individually and so I am struggling to write a response to this. Does anyone have any guidance or pointers on how to approach the question ?

It is asking if the majority of the poems are about rage and frustration (and mostly from the female point of view). Notable poems that would argue forthis would be 'Loud', 'The Map Woman' and 'Anon'. You could say 'Laughter of Stafford Girls' High' could be associated with rage and frustration through their laughter. However, I associated laughter with the spread of feminism.

You could argue against this and say there are other feelings than rage and frustration, such as loneliness/despair/happiness.
