Hi
can someone give me some guidance on how to answer an essay on how the Executive dominates parliament, I understand that Prime minister powers are a key part, but does anyone have any suggestions on other points in which I could include.
Thanks

- Party whips have a massive influence, especially when governments have a smaller majority or are in a minority government

- They have the power of patronage, meaning that they can appoint ministers to the executive. This is beneficial as it means that career politicians will vote in favour of the government in order to try and gain a potential ministerial role in the future. It also means that she has 120 MPs (ministers and junior ministers combined) that will automatically vote in favour of the government

- Can recommend peers to the HoL without limit (must be approved by the House of Lords Appointments Commission) so can create a majority in the upper chamber as well (remember that Parliament doesn't just mean HoC)

- The majority of proposals for legislation come from the executive
