Laptop for under 400 pounds?

I would just use laptop for general browsing, youtube, watching the odd movie... not for gaming etc. I don't need long battery life or for it to be light

I saw this one on ebay, any thoughts or suggestions, thanks.

I have an Acer Aspire and I don't know how much I would recommend this laptop! It has lasted me 3 years and it's still going strong lol. I also use it for casual things like surfing the internet and watching YouTube videos too, the performance is amazing. I believe 8GB RAM is more than enough for you if you're only planning to use it to browse the internet and what not, in fact, 8GB RAM is highly recommended for people who are Gamers & Graphic designers/Video editing as they need as much space possible, but as you are only using it casually then 8GB will last you a fair bit of time. The fact that it has an intel core i5 processor is another benefit to an extent because it is capable of running many programs at a high performance and you would be able to watch 4K videos.

I haven't had much success with Lenovo laptops if I'm being honest from my experience they tend to break easily, though the reviews for that you linked do seem somewhat positive. Lenovo laptops were recently branded as the best laptop brand of 2017 by LaptopMag, which does imply that these are the best Laptops in the market at the moment.

Does your laptop just sit on your desk all day attached to a charger? Reason I ask is your lesser need for battery life. If this is the case, then i'd look into getting a full tower and monitor setup as they are more reliable, upgrade-able and better value.

I enjoy the flexibility of being able to use my laptop wherever I want in the house, feel a bit restricted with a desktop.

I saw this laptop for £499, not sure whether it would be worth the extra money for SSD and full hd in comparison to the ACER.

Yes, I'd get it. It seems like a good deal. As you're doing basic tasks, you'll notice more of a difference from an SSD as opppised to a faster processor. This is because the SSD speeds up all the things that you want to do personally.
