Self esteem

I'm at a really competitive uni and I can never possibly live up to the standards they seem to expect from me. I did ok in my first year exams, but because they're always pushing me harder I feel a bit crap because it seems like nothing is ever good enough. It's first week back and I've been given about 50 hours work... how do I cope with this? My friends and boyfriend etc make me feel lots better about myself but after working all day on something really hard I just can't keep my self esteem up :frown: how do other people manage?

I feel much the same, but after finding the workload last year really quite depressing I'm trying to keep a Positive Mental Attitude this time!

Sorry, I'm not at uni so I can't be much help, but...

You went to uni for yourself, not for them. You went there to learn, not to be crushed. If you work your hardest and achieve ok grades then who cares?

I thought the whole idea of uni was to independantly work and work to your own methods and ability, to push yourself really...
To be honest, your uni, I am sorry to say, sounds like y7-y11 :s-smilie:

If you got into that gud uni you're there because you are good enough, so don't loose your confidence. Annndd.... although I don't want to contradict myself, I would be glad you're uni is trying to push you a bit, just don't let it overwhelm you.
