cold sore / herpes worry

I'm really worried that I have a cold sore:frown:

I've had a cold the past two weeks since starting uni and one day my lips got really really chapped all round the edges and split. I slathered them in lip balm and the next day when I woke up they were a bit red and inflamed, anyway they got progessively worse and although I didnt get any full on blisters on them I did get a few scabs. ( I know this sounds disgusting)

Also below my lip I got a few raised bumps maybe tiny blisters, which started to dry up after I put bonjela/ germalene on them.
Anyway if this is a cold sore I don't know how I got it since I've never had anything like it before and I've been with my boyfriend for the past 2 years and nobody else.

I'm really worried because I gave my boyfriend oral sex today( only because I thpught that it couldnt be a cs), there was nothing on my lip but I did still have small scabs/wounds below it. I'm really scared I've given him herpes for life.

Ps I've had this for about the past week now

go to a pharmacist and get treatment for it. until you know what it is refrain from physical contact

I think you'll find wikipedia helpful for this.

And don't worry, apparently 1 in 5 of us carry the herpes virus, hence the cold sore. And buy some Zovoirax to avoid any appearing again - good stuff.

Yeah I thought it was more common than 1/5. I initally wrote 90% funnily enough. I just got that number from a quick scan of the wiki page.
