URGENT: I selected 01 Private Finance on UCAS by mistake

Actually I was misinformed by my Education Advisor, he told me to select "01 Private Finance" on the UCAS from. And I've already submitted the damn form.

I'm a EU student and it's no way in hell I could ever pay the full tuition costs, I was counting on the Student Loan.

So what does this mean now? That I cannot take the Loan if I get admitted?

Is it THAT bad, is it final?

Is there any way that I could repair this mistake somehow? Maybe call UCAS, explain that i did a mistake?

Please tell me if I'm dead for good or I still have a chance for life!

Stop panicking and just ring UCAS like a rational human being, if you can manage that.

but I AM panicking, because I don't know what to expect.

I'd call them right now, but it's sunday so I have to wait until tomorrow.

In the meantime, I don't know what to expect and of course I'm VERY concerned about this.

And I would really need answers to my original post.

Thank you!

Erm, are you for real or is this a leg-pull? People make mistakes like that on their UCAS forms all the time. Just phone them up and they'll sort it out for you.

and this is not a pull, really. I simply have no idea how things work in the UK, and in my country I've been in similar situations but with a really bad outcome (I mean making minor mistakes when completing important forms and having the form cancelled because of that).

Glad to know it's not that bad. I'll call them tomorrow first thing.

Sorry for overreacting about this, I just envisioned dreadful scenarios about my app now. Guess I have some sick imagination.

Thanks a lot, again!
you have up to 14 days to sort things out before there's ever ANY consequences. and even after that time, as long as you weren't trying to commit fraud, they won't withdraw your application.

I am sure you will be fine.

You could always cancel a re-apply, but I am sure if you call UCAS customer support you will have no problem. You data should get updated and resent to all Universities.

Actually, you might be made to fill out a fee questionnaire by the unis to establish what your fee code should be

I didn't know the 14 days thing. And besides, I haven't received my welcome letter with the application number yet, so I guess this should make straightening things easier.

I can't calm down until I see things in order, though.

Thank you everyone for your replies!

No need for that surely. The OP was worried about something uni-related that could result in them losing a lot of money and so came to a student forum for help. Makes sense to me.

Talk about overreacting
I selected private finance and still got the loan papers (didn't use them though).
Friend selected it and got SAAS to pay their fees.

We're both EU students.
You'll be fine.

I've had a really bad day (some other issues on top of this ucas thing), but in the end it's a wonderful feeling when nice people come along and help you.

All the best to everyone!

2 years ago i selected private finance by mistake and rang UCAS. They told me I had to tell each of the uni's I'd applied to individually, so I sent an email to each of them. I think only one or two replied.

But it makes no difference, you can still apply for the loans and get the loans even with that mistake on your form.

I just called UCAS and they told me it's no big problem, I just have to call the universities and let them know of my mistake and that I actually wanna be consedered "02" at Student Support.
I put private finance too. And panicked about it. Then I found out that my friend who wrote private finance got the bursary from Cambridge anyway...
