Morbid question..

Why are people buried horizontally? Why is the coffin not buried vertically?

Is it the whole 'laid to rest' thing?

I really would like to be buried 'standing'.

I think it's just easier - easier to dig, no crumpled body, easier to get it into the ground in the frist place, mitigates land collapse when you rot.

Hmm makes sense, just wondering if it is still an option albeit an expensive one

I reckon it could be done in principle. Just harder - it'd mean you'd have to dig further than six feet down in a hole of about 3 be 3, which is a pain. Possible, though.

This guy knows the score. I mean, I'm not Hindu, but I love the idea. Or a sky burial, but that's impractical here and basically illegal everywhere else, ha.

Plan B is to be buried nameless at sea.

Cool, only thing to keep in mind about cremation is the Lazarus Effect.. I wouldn't want to unsettle the guests.. sounds horrifying

Because many see death as permanent sleep.

Not buried, but wasn't there an English king who wanted to die whilst standing up? I'm sure it's in a Shakespeare play, and I assume is historically accurate, artistic licence notwithstanding. [ NotwithSTANDING] Ha, ha.
