There's a bee in my room...

OK, in my room I have one of those old-fashioned windows that you slide up to open and slide down to close.
There's a bee sitting on the ledge in between the two panes of glass. When I heard it buzzing earlier this morning I thought it was actually in my room, so I opened the window a little bit in the hope that it would fly out, but now it's trapped between the two panes of glass.
It sounds and looks like it's getting rather agitated so I'd quite like to let it out for its sake as well as mine. However, if I open the window even further that's not going to help it; if I close the window it'll fly into my room and I don't particularly want it in here.
Soooooo should I close the window, let the bee fly into my room and then open the window again so it'll fly out? The main reason I don't want to do this is that in order to close the window I'll have to get very close to this very agitated bee and I think the chances of being stung are quite high.
Orrrrrrr should I just leave it as it is and hope the bee dies? There's not really a security risk to my window being open as my room doesn't face the road and I'm on the 3rd floor. It's also a very old building so no chance of any fancy, highly secure guttering for any intruders to climb up.

I'd recommend leaving it and waiting for it to die. Only because I have a fear of being stung and if it were me, I'd not take the risk.

Well, it's now curled up in the corner of the ledge frame and it looks sort of like it's shivering. Could be dying perhaps. I feel bad about it but like you I do have a little bit of a fear of bees.
I have to go out in a bit so if it's in the same place when I come back I'll probably be able to assume it's dead.

Cover yourself in mud so it can't sting you. :p:

Don't forget that bees don't like stinging people 'cos then they die. You can probably let it into your room quite easily without being stung... it's most likely to fly straight out of the window.

Can't you pull the top window down, giving it a path to outside?

why don't you trap the bee in a jar or something then move it (in the jar to the side of the window (flat against the frame), then open the window properly then move the jar enough to let the bee out

Just let the poor thing out!

Because it might sting/kill/laugh at/anally rape her.

Because bees can do U-Turns :p:

lol.

I do not have a jar or similar thing in my room, otherwise I would do that.

It looks rather less agitated and slightly happier now, so I feel a bit better about letting it out into my room.

Then I'll just open the window again and hopefully it will fly out

Awww, I love bees. I hope you let it out in the end... it's probably got friends out there worrying about it.

You can't just let it die.

You'll be pleased to hear that the bee got out - I brought down one of the panes in the hope of releasing the bee into my room so that I could open the window again and let it out. Apparently this enabled the gap between the ledge and the pane to get just a bit bigger, and the bee flew out by himself without him freaking me out in the process  yay
