Less Time For Papers

I'm doing AS WJEC English Language and was wondering if anyone knows why they've reduced the amount of time spent on the paper although the content of the paper seems pretty much the same to me?

Old Spec: http://pastpapers.download.wjec.co.uk/s12-1151-01.pdf

The paper is 2h 30m which I'd say is pretty reasonable

Compared to

http://www.wjec.co.uk/qualifications/english/r-english-language-gce-from-2015/wjec-gce-english-lang-sams-from-2015-e.pdf?language_id=1

1h 45m

Because the content of the papers doesn't seem to have reduced either I don't know if I should spend 2h 30m on the previous papers (there aren't any available for the new spec) or 1h 45m because the exam I'm sitting is 1h 4m long.

Would appreciate some insight

Thanks

You have to learn to write to time so the best you cna manage in 1h45m. This may mean model answers are out of your reach, but at least you can see what the main points were. If you wnat to find out the reason for the change , then contact WJEC.

OK this is what I would do.

Answer section A in 70 mins- write in black. then spend an extra 30 mins to add stuff for more marks, but write in a different colour.

Section B write to 35 min in black and then an extra 15 mins in a different colour.

You are aiming to get as many marks as possible in the first part i.e writing to 1h45min. the extra is to see which bits you missed and could have included if given the extra time. That means you would have written a total 2.5hrs.
