Yeah you can take the September GAMSAT but people don’t as it’s kinda expensive
Reply 121
I meant the entire GAMSAT exam is expensive. Both month prices are the same.

Hi guys ! I'm hoping to apply for GEM 2019 entry too. I dont think I will be prepared enough for the GAMSAT test on March and I am planning on taking it in september instead. Is this reasonable/possible?

I have sat it twice if you do sit it in September make sure you are confidently prepared for this exam as:

Original post by Volibear
It's fine but I'm pretty sure you'll be applying blind.

Volibear said you are applying blindly like an A level student who sits the BMAT in November and doesn't know if they met the requirement for university unlike a UKCAT university where if you got a solid score like 810 (which is very hard to get but then know you meet the requirement for UKCAT completely) or if you sit in March you know the score in May where you can roughly apply if you get scores like 65.
Whereas if you sit in September in November when you get your results university gets it 2 days before you...so its quite difficult if you know you meet the GAMSAT requirement. I will be taking the risk like yourself since I am in my second year of my degree hence March is a hectic time of the month for coursework
Hi,

My name is Haytham. I hold a degree in Physics and I am thinking to apply for a GEM course for 2019 entry.

My choice is not yet finalised. But Warwick attracts me.
I have some questions regarding the application process:

- Are you aware of new GEM course for 2019 entry ? I heard of ScotGEM

- Which medical school favour most non biological degrees such as physics and maths ? I wish I could apply to KCL but their GEM course only accepts bioscience graduates, why is that ?

- I am an international student so I did not do A level nor GCSE, does that means that my selection will be solely based on my test scores ?!

Thank you

Hi all, I'm currently an advanced clinical practitioner in an Emergency Department in London, work on the SHO rota, seeing treating and discharging all patients in ED, have prescribing rights, Ct ordering etc. Training is an Ma/MSc and 3 years credentialing with RCEM . Background is an 18 years as RN, Have a DipHe, BSc(Hons) in Nursing with an Emergency Endorsement (2:1) and just finishing an Masters in advanced clinical practice (Emergency). Aiming for 2019 Grad entry, UKCAT uni's. Fingers x'd my many years experience and current role, will stand me in good stead, Newcastle are Nursing and AHP friendly. hit average of 730 on ukcat in 2017, but finances prohibited application. Hope to specialise in Emergency medicine, as this is my background for many years, and am currently practicing at SHO level:smile:So 2019 it is.. good luck all
Hello,

What do you think is the best strategy when applying to UCAS.
Given that we are aiming for GEM courses, should we only apply to GEM courses or would it be more reasonable to have a back up solution by putting 1 or 2 standard courses ?

Thank you
Original post by Volibear
Realistically, that's only a good idea if you can actually afford to study the standard course.

Oh yes ! You are right, I completely forgot about money !

Do you have any information regarding the potential 2019 changes in GEM applications ?

Also do you know universities particularly looking for Physics graduates for their GEM courses ?

Thank you
Hi guys ! So the Msc that I'm planning on doing states that it is 12-months long starting on Sept 2018. Does this mean that I cannot apply for 2019 entry ?
Hi,

No you will finish your MSc in August 2019 so you will be ready to start med school in September 2019 if you apply this year by Oct 2018.

you should be fine since you are allowed to apply in your last year of study for most courses

Hi everyone, I’m really glad I found this thread and other people in the same boat☺️
I’m a mature student, currently in the final year of my psychology degree (currently hoping for a high 2:1) and have always worked in healthcare roles.

I’m looking at applying to Newcastle, Nottingham and Warwick for sure, not certain about the fourth choice🤔
Hi,

I have seen Warwick medical school but I just feel that it is quite remove like in the middle of nowhere.
What are your thought on this medical school ?
Thanks

Um Masters at my uni usually end mid-September so you might want to double check. You can still apply though it's just you'd get no break in between, so might be tough to do the GAMSAT then

Don't sell yourself short, We all have different backgrounds and experiences, which are unique and give equal merit to our applications. I have no A level chemistry, which is a big issue, and limits me to just a few schools. We all have strengths and weaknesses; the key is to exploit your strengths. Have confidence in yourself, and you will achieve. Best of luck.

Just don't spread your self out with all the entrance exams even though I believe you can make it doing the BMAT, GAMSAT and UKCAT in the summer will kill you surely? Unless you are doing the GAMSAT in March?
